Very nice curios. They make a great display in any man cave/bunker.

Seeing all these domes makes me sick! Where can I get one?

These are so cool. Were they only for the WW1 era?

I don´t think only ww1 era . The one i show is from a WW2 vet. It does not matter but i want to mention that it is from an SS vets estate.

I guess if it doesn't have an EK logo on it or an inscription, any cross with a ribbon attachment could be displayed. Some of the German States EK equivelents would be nice in there too. These are private purchase items after all.

Glass Dome is also original. But I don't see any felt missing..

This one sold at ebay.de in January this year for 154E. The other engraved I've seen were engraved with 03.11.1917.

I've counted four, but I might have missed some.

I don't think too many other crosses would fit as the recess is designed for an EK2 (Prussian).

I'd guess these private purchase domes would have been available from wartime through the 30s, so into the 40s for a 1939 EK2 is not a big stretch of the imagination. I'd be curious to learn if the 1939 EK2 is a PERFECT fit, or whether it may be a tiny bit too large for the recess? I haven't tried a 1939EK2 in mine to see how well it fits, if at all.

                          Regards

I've just got home and tried a standard 39EK2 - it actually fits better (a much snugger fit) than the 1914 EK2!!

I wasn't aware there was an indentation for a cross in the holder. Anyone ever see a period catalogue showing one of these?
