I just got this Beer mug.
Can anyone teel me anuthing about it?? Year, motif, value.

It has got some markings on the bottom. 406 VB 87 95

The first set of # should refer to the stein body mold #. The VB may be for villeroy and Boch Maker, the 87 may be design and 95 the year of manufature..
Ill try to look it up when I get home tonight..

Just got home and I guess my memory isnt too bad..

406 is the stein body style this came as blanks and decorated in a number of ways..and the year is 1895.
87 is the motif design

So you have a nice early Mettlach beer stein worth approx $300.00-$500.00
in perfect condition..The market is still strong for Mettlach steins..Price depends on decoration, military motifs seem to bring the higher of the stated values..
Ive attached a scan from "The Mettlach Book" by Gary Kirsner.
