Well, Hohenau is in Bavaria, the metal insignia on the collar tabs (thanks for the closeup-initially mistook them for Edelweiss) look like rotary engine turbines and the design of the tunic looks 50-ish to me. Rotary Engine Fire truck driver? At first I thought, 'Deutscher Alpen-Verein' Tunic!

That's my very feeble best guess.

            stoneagegixer,

This tunic is almost certainly from Austria. The rosettes on the collar patches are standard Austro-Hungarian/Austrian/Hungarian rank rosette for military officials/police/firemen, which has not changed in size and design ever since the 1850s. The single shoulder cord (Achseldragoner) on the right shoulder is uniquely Austro-Hungarian/Austrian/pre-1950 Hungarian. Besides, there are several cities/towns by the name of Hohenau in Austria, perhaps an expert on coats of arms can tell us which Hohenau this particular tunic is from.

Judging from the overall style of the tunic, it could not be from before the 1950s. My guess is it is from the 70s or 80s. But I could be wrong.

It is almost certain not a military uniform. My best guess is that it's a uniform of a small town fireman.
