    prussian order of the crown

    hi,

i have just obtained a 3rd class prussian order of the crown. it has a number on the top arm edge. would this be some form of maker mark or recipients reference ? the number is 83422.

    many thanks,

    mark.

        Mark,

I have heard of these occasionally having numbers lightly scratched or engraved on them, but nobody seems to know what they mean. Maybe a manufacturer's stock number or something. I will look at mine tonight and see if it has one.

I checked mine, and there are no numbers, but I know I remember seeing one with numbers on it like that.
