Hi,

Just wanted share what was sold month ago in Swedish auction...

Merit Order of the Prussian Crown - Grand Cross - badge in gold marked by Johann Wagner & Sohn (W). Star silvergild marked by same maker.

Attributed to Swedish Admiral and politician Arvid Lindman (1862-1936).

Only 49 of these Crosses were awarded between 1901-1913.

That was the first and last I will propably ever see....

Hi Jani,

thanks for posting. Thats the first one, i have seen for auction. Btw, there wasn´t a grandcross, there was just one class, called "Kreuz der Ordensritter". There exist so called "Kleindekorationen", that were worn on a ribbon, but they also represented the cross mentioned.

I heard about that piece. I think 15,000 is pretty reasonable, actually. The last time I saw a set at auction it was here in the U.S., at Floyd, Johnson & Paine back in about 1998. It was priced at $30,000, but did not sell.
