    Wound badge Mini

    Hi friends,

I like to show my new miniature - only a wound badge in black, but I like it

It is sized 23 mm and has catch ang hinge as his "big brother".

    Best wishes

    Joerg

Crikey! That is a great badge, never saw one like that before!

Would that count as a Prinzen size wound badge?

              Dear Stdub,

Very nice mini. I am glad to see another one. I have only seen 2 others besides this one in 30 years of collecting. Pictured is mine. A little different pin arrangement. I would love to find a silver or gold one!

This one has Joerg's style of hinge as well--the pin hasn't been shortened, though.

                      Prinzen/Mini Wound Badges

Hello! I´m new to this forum and while I was going through the forum I thought of making a search for Prinzen/mini Wound Badges. Up came this interesting thread!

I got two versions of these badges, let´s see if I can post an image here.....

Yes, it worked!! While I´m winning I better post a picture of their reverse....

The black one is 29 mm high and the silver one is a bit smaller measuring 26-27 mm.

Just checked William Hamelman´s book and he has reproduced some period dealers catalogs listing various miniatures, but the largest one there was 23 mm. He also illustrated a gold badge measuring 25 mm but unfortunately no reverse view of it. Anyone seen other period advertisements/catalogs listing these prinzens?

                          Hi guys,

Can you give me your opinion on this badge. I notice that some of the ones posted here have the same style pin. Mine is a full size and I think it's bad. It is very light and the paint doesn't seem right. It flakes off very easily. The details are decent but not as "3D" as my other badges. Has anyone seen this kind one before? Should I move it out of my "junk" box (it's way at the bottom right now)?

                          Thanks.

                            Dear Tim L,

Form the pictures it looks ok to me. I would not worry about the paint flaking off...remember it is a hundred year old badge! If this is a full size badge you might want to post it under its own thread in the Imperial section and have some other people look at it.

I agree, I wouldn´t hesitate putting that one in my collection. The black 1918 wound badge has got to be one of the most produced badges of its era and there seems to have been hardly any government control over quality and manufacturing styles.
