Why is the inside of the visor green?

I have seen other examples of this late "lobster tail" with the same green visor, does anyone know why?

All German officer's spiked helmets have green visors (inside). Perhaps this was done to prevent them from wearing their helmets backwards?

Many visor caps have green linings. This was "scientifically" arrived at as supposed to decrease eye strain under most lighting conditions-- not too bright and reflective in sun, not too dim in dark light.

You're right.

Thinking back, all my uniform caps have always had green-lined peaks, no matter what the maker.

Sort of like how painting the inside of a cell sweetie-pink is supposed to calm down the prisoners.
