    My bright, shining star...

Always admired these awards for their aesthetic qualities. Of course, there are the crude painted type and at the other scale the solid silver private purchase examples.

Anyway, it arrived this morning so I took some pics while the sun was still out. Only the tiniest of damage to the lower left arm, but still nice eye candy

        Hey Richard, hey Jeff!

Richard, classic, beautiful, German-made example of the star. Nice quality. Jeff, that fellow looks very familiar!

Thanks for your interest, chaps. Great pic as well!

It actually amazed me how large it actually is, for some reason I always imagined them to be smaller.

What is also surprising is how many components actually go into the construction, yet there are no rivets on the reverse. I had no idea that the crescent moon was also separately applied!

Without doubt, the imperial age produced some fantastic enamelled awards

Same as my reaction when I got my first one...

These come in dozens of variants: on some crescent and lettering are riveted, on others soldered on, still others are one-piece.
