    Opinions 1813 EK2

    All,
Trying to learn. Not looking to buy (yet). So what is right or wrong about this EK2?
    Thanks!

    lack of detail....

.... notice how blurry the features are of the core. This is not a full-size piece, is it?

This looks like a 3/4 to me as well - could be wrong..

The wide rim, poor core detail, and strange looking joined-up beading are not IMO indicative of 1st or even 2nd period (1818-1834) crosses, so my guess would be much later production piece...

On the plus side, oakleaves with a stem pointing directly down are a good sign,
and you might want to do a search as to the current thinking on non-stepped cores....I can't remember, so don't want to make an issue out of nothing..

For the record, a period made 1813 is IMO among the best detailed of any war EK's - this is a little more what you would expect in terms of quality...I think you'll spot the difference..

Dear God - you are not kidding! The cross I posted is advertised as an 1840ish piece...

Still, I am here to learn at this point.
          Thanks!
