When I went to the PO today there was a cream cheese box waiting for me My first thought was who would send cream cheese through the mail? I opened it up, expecting the worst, and this little beauty popped out The "corner bindings" are made from Granat bands and the crown is, obviously, a uniform button. I imagine it'd be called trench art, but betcha it's a post-War souvenir. Whether from our side or theirs I wouldn't begin to guess. Hell, I don't even know who's "us" and who's "them" anymore I popped a flint in, filled it with fluid, and presto, instant flame

That's an ingenious "pistol magazine" way to cover one of these lighters. Never seen the like-- the poor schlub probably missed out on lucrative patent rights!
In fact, if you'd just showed us the extremely well done "book binding," I'd have assumed it was a match box cover.
PS you're not burning up the original wick are you, you beast???
