EK1 with Fangs Godet?

This is my newest addition to my collection and also my first with fangs. The family I bought it from also said there was a case to it and if they find it they will let me know. It is marked 800 under the catch. The hinge assembly looks like Godet witch had me thinking that I have never seen a cross with fangs that wasnt a Godet. So my question is how many makers do we know offered this service? How many different examples are out there? etc

Nice one Don I have compared the hinge assembly to my other Godet crosses and although the hinge on this one isnt as wide as the others it has the same shape. Any thoughts?

Core, pin, and fangs don't say Godet to me.

I have to agree with Don on this one. Nothing about that cross really
says Godet to me.

I can definately see a difference in the date and the hooks are different. Were these applied by the company or by a jeweler after purchase or both? I will see if I can find another cross that share the same core details as this one.

If it is than that explains why I cant seem to find a perfect match but I sure hope your wrong. I have looked at every EK1 I have and every one in the data base and cant seem to find a perfect match but Im still developing these skills. The seller gives a garentee of authenticity saying it comes from the family so Im sure I can return it if it turns out to be a fake.

Actually Im with you on this Michel I just got this and should have inspected it more closely before posting. I dont like the soldering on the sides and the frames seem uneven I goofed Im taking this one back in person if I have too

I am also perplexed. The frame seems to be a good Godet frame and the core is well known Godet core of the early cast type. Even the catch seems reasonably correct. Everything else is wrong.

I think this is one to judge in-hand, where you can see the solder, etc. It could have been made from an early (cast core) Godet EK2 by a faker who had a little knowledge about the type:



...or it could be one of these (i.m.o. the frame and core match) with completely replaced (period? recent?) hardware that nevertheless tried to replicate the original:





Overall I would certainly leave this one alone, but it is sort of intriguing anyway, to me.
