      A good question that would interest me as well. I'd imagine it would be significant military service to the Turkish state, but I'm not sure.

        I think it was basically an EK2 equivalent for personnel serving in theatre.

          no no it wasn`t a ek equivalent - it was a simple "war medal". (kriegsmedaille)

          and it was awarded 10000s times for the german and kuk soldiers, who fought in the middle east. but it was very popular in germany and austria.

          but i like these crescents very much.

          there are a lot of versions.

          one month bevor the war ended in october 1918 the last 1000s were awarded.

          the ottoman soldiers sometimes were angry, because of the germans got the medal in a real "simple" way, and they did not.

            Aha, so it was not a bravery award at all? Everyone got one who served with Turkish forces?

              normally yes, but often you got it for your service in the middle east.
