It indeed looks old. I've seen that shaped Bavarian shield before on non-military (?studentika) items. I could only take a wild guess though - the shield sits on what appears to be a spoken wheel, so I'd guess some sort of late 1800sto early 1900s (?maybe even 1920s?) Bavarian auto/car club related item.

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

I see alot of pins out here like this but none that come to mind but I dont think this is military related. Probably some type of auto club or something like you mentioned before. I see this stuff all the time especially at fleemarkets. I will keep my eye out this weekend when Im there.

Could be a bicycling club pin.

Thank for the help-I did not think it was military related but curious as to what it may be for. The auto or bicycle theme was what I was thinking but ya never know! Don once had a thread about how an item grew into a collection. Vintage German stickpins are one of those items that kinda grew into a collection for me and they did not have to be military related. They seem to show up with other items that find their way here, so hence a collection was born so to speak --thanks again, Mike

I think this is an example of one of those "I've seen this before somewhere, now what was it" item.

Some time from now, perhaps years, one of us on this forum will see this Bav. Shield and spoked-wheel device in an old book or literature and will be able to positively identify it.
