    Imperial Navy dagger

    hey,

a friend of mine, want's to share this Imerpial Navy dagger. I do not know many of this because it is out of my expertise
I asked Graig Gottlieb what it was and he said to me that it is a dagger for German Navy Cadette's. He said that the dagger is pre 1837 and that it maybe possible that it came from a ship called the Amazon, wich was sunk.

    Hope you like it,
    maarten

    AMAZON type Dolch

Documented in "Exploring the Dress Daggers of the German Navy" by Thomas Wittmann, has anybody this kind of rare dagger in his collection?

    Any comments welcome!

In their book "Deutsche Marinedolche", authors Vic Diehl and Hermann Hampe wrote an excellent study on these early daggers. The book is in German but the authors have an English website were you will be able to find more information about your friend's dagger.

      http://www.germanautoandaerocorps.co...volution5.html

You can also contact the authors, an email address is provided in the above-mentionned link.
