Desk Sculpture of Rooster on Cuirassier helmet

Here is another piece I pulled out of storage. I haven't seen these things in years. I am enjoying them all over again. I am not sure if this sculpture is German or French or if it dates from the Franco Prussian War or WWI. It is bronze and has been fire gilded on a marble base. It stands 7" tall. I really like these small patriotic sculptures.

The rooster or cock is a repesentation of France. This patriotic piece probably dates early post WWI era in celebration of the defeat of the Germans. Perhaps earlier as an inspirational piece but the French didn't fair that well during the Franco-Prussian War. They lost that one right quick.

      Cool piece.

          Wow, a spectacular piece!

          It's a French made patriotic anti-German piece.

I'm surprised how tall it is, 7"!

          All the Best,

Thank you for the comments. I found a French bronze bass-relief plaque memorial with a rooster sitting on a German spiked helmet. With the snake Germany was still a threat so I guess the piece was made during WWI.
