    hollow bavarian pilot badge

Hi gents, what do you think about this pilot badge? Has somebody a photo of a hollow bavarian pilot badge?

    Thank you

Here is one of my stamped hollow Bavarian pilot badges. Made by unknown maker that uses square punch mark. The one you are asking about is seen alot and not generally liked as a period badge. Ferg1

Fake is a very final word. It really depends on your point of view regarding these examples and all the cross-conextions with the badges that share their hardware, back plates (when applicable) etc. There are such huge holes in the information /history of these things that it is not possible for anyone to say for 100% sure that these are bogus. It's one of the types that show only spokes in one of the wheels of the undercarriage and generally when a Bavarian badge surfaces then this is the type. Given the small size of the Bavarian flying personnel it seems unusual to find so many badges and 99% of them are like this. That does not constitute a fake but certainly rings alarm bells. Its a bit of an open book on these particular badges,we need more info but that's unlikely to surface. Pollath badges that have spokes in both wheels and a host of other features that these do not have are very thin on the ground. Ferg1.
