    Fake? EKII, nice ribbon

This came in the mail today. I figured it was a fake when I bid, but I got it cheap. It's 1 piece, not sure of the metal, but doesn't taste like bronze. The ribbon is the good part. It's 35mm and creased for a buttonhole with the cross attached.

    Damn scans won't uploadmoremad
Anyhow, one piece, funky beading, lousy detail. all rounded off on the edges. The ribbon looks like it's been on it for a long time. If it doesn't show up here try in "Technical Advice"

huaaaaaaah What the hell is that?

        Looks like a cast copy...

Maybe the ribbon is original? Tested with a blacklight?

        Greetings

Yes, it's definitely cast. What is confusing is the extra wide ribbon. It's my understanding that this is the width of the 1813 ribbon. It's watered silk and shows definite age. Is it possible that cast copies were made as cheap replacements using old stock ribbon?

            Hey there!
I just bought an EKII just like this today at an antique store!
I am not sure what it is either! If these are cheap cast copies used as replacements, then I will consider it to be genuine and will have happily spent $45.00. What do you think?

These are fakes and no replacements. They never had such a crap quality.

                Jens,
I'm still puzzled about this one. It's an obvious fake, but the ribbon's a very old original, and has been on the piece for a long time. When I removed it to put on my 1813 it started to shred. I guess we'll never know the answer.

--I've got one of these. I got it from my days at "bidding on every 1914 ek2 on ebay for no more than $20". Very bendable, no?
--I never imagined it was real, so I hang it on the key to my display case.

The ribbon proportions are just "off." I wonder if these were...

OK, here is the "high-quality" EKII cast fake. Don't ask about a makers mark
