    1870 Ek1

Here is an interesting 1870 EK1. Quality is far better than the images can show. The pin has been altered by hand, why I don't know, and it has a rather intriguing engraving. Any ideas/comments welcome. (The Cross is not mine, I just had it on loan to take photos).

        Finally!

A real one! Nice cross Gordon. Guys, take a close look at the relief and detail to the crown and numbers. Note especially the 1 and 7. These should almost always be very thin as in this example. Usually, the first real give-away for a fake one is that these two numbers will be at least twice as thick. Also, the relief and crispness of the numbers will be much, much less than on the one shown. Thanks for sharing Gordon. I'd like to see the cypher too, if possible.

Here is the cypher. It had been suggested that GdC was Garde du Corps but I've no idea if that would be likely or not. I'd have thought personal initials was more likely than unit initials.
