    Family woodwork

Got home this afternoon and found these waiting for me.
The wifes great uncle twice removed (or something like that )found them and sent them to me, they were from his father.

Interesting is the october 38 medal ina baggie, the ribbon still in tissue paper.

This man had imperial, 3rd reich and federal german awards! Really rare to see! Is there any paper stuff with this group?

This is a bavarian military merit order 4th class with swords, given to Leutnants and Oberleutnants. Looks like a peacetime 4th class which was later completed with the swords and given in WW1

        Best greetings

Hi, unfortunately not (that I know of)(I must ask around)
The son I got it from was a Night fighter pilot and took part in operation Bodenplatte in 1945, has nothing left though.

The Bundesverdienstkreuz has a big "CE JUNKER BERLIN SO 36" stamped on the back of the box.

Are they normally silver ? I thought they were usually silver colored, but not really silver.

The grey box is for the EK by the way, it has a grey interior with the usual eK motif and the "Zur Erinnerung an Deutschlands Große Zeit"

                Hi!

which one do You mean with silver?

The bavarian MVO was everytime silver.
The Bundesverdienstkreuz only the older ones. The todays pieces are really cheap, but the old ones are from good quality.

                Best greetings

                  Wow!

Hi Chris, nice of the relatives to think of you. Impressive grouping. I've never seen the 4.kl BMVO in the late, war-time, slide-out case. Is the lid of that box titled at all? Very nice group. I have seen the "flower" medals with packets before, but never one with the tissue on the ribbon still. That's the thing that really fascinates me, the wrapping, cases, boxes, cartons, presentation materials, etc. Cheers!

                    Hi,
The MVO case is just plain red, the packet for the oct 38 has no stamp other than the maker.

Hi Daniel, I mena 900 silber as opposedto versilbert.
I have never really taken much notice of the imp Bavarian stuff before.

                        Hey tom,
                        you aint kidding..
I already had 2 rather big groups from the family, anf thought the well had dried up, this one may not be big, but it was kinda nice, especially as it was totally unexpected.

                          Hi,

the Bav. MVO 4 was always in silver, sometimes with real gold medaillons, but not of this maker "WC", which was "Weiss & Co., Munich".
                          Great grouping!!!!

                          Best regards

                            Rick,
Can you do anything with the name Cornel Dumbacher ?
Cant be a very comman name, but was very probably a reserve or ersatz officer in a bavarian (Würzbrg) unit.
                            All th ebest
                            Chris

                              Chris;

Nice grouping you have there, it’s always the unexpected things that are most enjoyable and memorable in life. Just one question, was it normal for one man to have so many ribbon bars? I would have thought that as a new award came along the old bar would have been pulled apart and a new one made up with new backing plate etc…
Once again nice group and thanks for sharing.
