Godet Wideframe opinions please

G/day guys ...

I recently picked this EK1 up, thinking it was a Meybauer variant

Andy and Trevor tell me Im way off (thanks) and its a Wide frame Godet with an added Meybauer screw ... No worries

Can anyone please show me the correct screw fitting for these and/or point me towards a thread regarding these crosses, Id like to learn about them ... thanks guys.

Hi Simon,

I think I said I believe it is probably a Godet. I think that because the frame and core match THIS one, which is marked for Godet, and the "800" mark matches THIS one. I've also seen that distinctive '800' mark on other Godet marked crosses, and I've seen more of the first type correctly marked for Godet, too.

Here are some photos of the same cross with what I assume is its correct hardware. I've seen only this one SB, so I think they are rare.

Hell yes it is a Godet Wideframe with the wrong disc!

I´m on the hunt for such an example with a needle.. Damn I´ve seen 3-4 crosses with screwbacks, but only one with needle til now. Those are great pieces, and yours is a lovely one Simon! But anyhow, I´m happy with the 3 EK2s of this style I was able to find!

Here are some pics proving this crosses are Godets. What makes them special is the "rawness" of the frames, which is quite uncommon for Godets. Anyhow, I love the massive shape of this pieces. Reminds me a bit on Knights Crosses.

And here the 2nd Class crosses. The Weitze piece is mine, the other not. Luckily I grabbed the Weitze one just for 55€. Hehe.


As you can easily see, the 1st cross bears the Godet mark. The crosses I own are without marks, but til now I haven´t seen another cross with markings. Kinda rare.

Let me say that I find strange to read that it 's a replacement when we have more examples all with exactly the same parts used, naturally I don't know why, just I think there is more back of this point and explanation coul be not so simple as seems today.

i.m.o. no godet. this core was used in a few different iron crosses with disc and needle. for example i have 3 of them with hallmark on the back / hallmark & meybauer stamp.

yes, i think, too.

sorry gents, i was wrong, my 3 pieces do have the typical godet core, and not
the shown core of simons piece.
