    Kolonialtruppen - Sudwest Afrika?

    Hi!

Today I recive this nice photo. Sudwest Afrika I think, if I'm wrong tell me.

    Can someone read this transcription?

    I can only read:
    "Die 2 Kompanie
    ???
    ???
    Gaulasch (?) Kanone"

    And:
    "Stellung 2/146
    Ferdinands Schlucht
    ???"

Any info what is that "Gaulasch Kanone" and about Ferdinands Schlucht (canyon) would be appreciated

No, I think that is German soldiers fighting with the Turks.

      2. Komp IR149.... was with the Turks. Thought I recognised it, I have a group to the Leutnant in 1. IR149 in 1917-1918.

        Thanks for thoughts!

But where you got here any info that is an IR 149?
We only have here a signature "Stellung 2/146"... First I was thinking that is a number of a standing, but maybe you're right and that is just "2 Kompanie / 146 Regiment". But not 149 anyway...

Can you post any pic from your grouping?

The text on the back gives the name "Stellung 2/146 Ferdinands Schluch".

I found a hint that the "Ferdinands Schlucht" is located in the area of Czechia.

The exact text on the left side of the postcard is:

"Die 2. Kompanie empfängt Essen aus der Goulasch Kanone" - the 2nd Co gets their

              mearl from the field kitchen

                Sorry, Typo, IR146 not 149.

2/146 is 2nd company IR146 and they were in the middle east.

                  Thank you both!

Gerdan - I found the same location, but it couldn't be it...

Chris - yes, I found just a sec before that IR 146 really fought together with Turkey - but still I'm not sure if they fought against British or Russians (as a part of Asien-Korp in Caucasus)

                    Hey,

they were reinforcements for "PaschaII" in Spring of 1918. I think it was against the brits, must check later.

I think that against British troops indeed, 'cause I've just read that they were captured by Lawrence
