Bavarian Veteran Medals

Found these two medals at local flea market and I would like to know are these pre WW I veteran medals or post WW I.All comments wellcome.

The larger medal is a modern piece of junk which I heard somewhere was originally sold tied to bottles of some kind of booze. the other medal is a legitimate local veterans group medal.

The medal comes from the veterans club Pfaffenberg. The exact year I don't know but the king on the front side is Ludwig II from Bavaria (1845 - 1886)

I'm sure since it has Ludwig II's portrait that it was designed and struck during his reign circa 1871-1886. The flat spot worn on to the loop shows that it was worn a long time. Nice medal.

I think based on the inscription that the small medal is a membership medal and not an award for service. Many of the local veterans groups were started up during or right after the Franco Prussian War when patriotic feelings were running high.
