Picked up this last week, i'm led to believe the Hesse bravery medal is not too easy to find? and possibly silver?

VtwinVince is correct, the Hessen Allgemeines Ehrenzeichen für Tapferkeit 1894 is not particularly rare, they are worth ~$34-$50 by themselves. These were made of low-quality silver and they eventually switched to making them out of silver-plated Kriegsmetall- I think around 1918.
Does this example have "FÜR TAPFERKEIT" on the back?
Nice medal brace and bar.

Or any other reverse inscription.
I don't think (or: am not aware) of zink silvered Hassian bravery medals. I think they stateyd at their "silver" (250/00!) until war's end, as e.g. Württemberg did, while Baden changed to silvered zink at circa end-1916.
Speaking only about the standard silver war merit/bnravery medals, of course.
