I think its alot sharper than the back overal especially the date but the 8 looks the same to me but without closeups things always looks different at different distances. I think the mark on the ring is the best dead givaway.

the front crown has jewels on them ( the horizontal line where the head wood go in )

the ninth off them ( counted from left to right ) is bigger as the others .

that wy it is called the ninth bead .

Greg, thanks for the info on these. I am amazed about the detail required to authenticate these crosses and without the forum would never have known this. Fantastic supporting info. I now know what to look for and why this site is a must for new collectors. Again much appreciated.
