Over time, we have seen a lot of oakleaves posted on this forum. Endless oakleaves on 1870 EK’s, oakleaves on Red Eagles and Zahringer Lions, and even a few on PLM’s; but I do not recall seeing what just might be the most beautiful oakleaves of all.

Here we have the gold honor medal to the Princely Honor Cross of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt with the 1914-15 oakleaves. Granted, this is a relatively humble award, yet you don’t seem to see them around very much. -

The reason you don't see these often is that they are rare, as is anything from this principality. A higher grade of this order, with the same oakleaves, came up on German ebay a short time ago, and the price went through the roof.

That has to be the best looking set of oakleaves out there, well at least that I've seen anyway!
