    Würtemberg Order

    Guys

I have a nice silk embroidered banner, it has a medal within the banner which I hope can help identify it more closely.
I have tried to identify and can find similar awards but not with the blue background.
The cypher I think is FK for Friedrich Karl (William1st) the 2nd king of Würtemberg 1816-1864. I'd be interested to hear anything that may be able to help me tie this banner down a little.

    Thanks

    Gary

      Gary,

The medal order is the Wurttemberg Military Merit Order, Grand Cross. The example I post belonged to Tsar Nicholas I of Russia.

      A very nice banner.

      Kind regards
      Pierce

Thanks very much for the information, I have been advised that this is a Reserve Dragoon Regiment Standard, what are your thoughts on this.???

Pierce, I wonderful order you have there, I think mine has the initials FK within the centre, it's difficult to tell for sure. What period would you think the banner is.

          Cheers

            Hi Gary,

The Order itself is from the 19th century. It is not mine but a part of the Kremlin Collection.

Here is the caption accompanying the photo:

The order was established in 1759 by Karl Eugen, Duke of Württemberg (1728-1793); later on it was renamed the Militärverdienstorden in 1806 by King Friedrich I and underwent several revisions during the XIXth and early XXth centuries.

            Kind regards
            Pierce

I want to thank those that have participated on this thread and those that have E-Mailed me seperately, after further research this is indeed a Württemberg Reserve Dragoon regimental standard from ca 1874.

              Many Thanks
