Looks like a post production applied mark, perhaps to increase its value to collectors. These crosses have been linked to a maker I believe, possibly Deumer?

That's what I understand too and, aside from the uncommon example with a silver content mark, all the ones I've see are unmarked.

I'd agree that this marking appears to be post-production - who, when where and why are unknown, but both period and modern would be conceivable (eg the original owners monogram).
