Opinions needed on medal

I meant that in the example (via the link) the medallion with the VI is a separate piece bolted onto the cross. I am not an expert so I'm unsure that your one piece (as yours looks like a one-piece) is also awarded or bought as an extra private piece, for a medal bar or for use on another uniform. Or that it is a fake, as there are a lot of copies around of Austrian medals.

Looks like a solid (1-piece) construction.

I have just noticed that the centre section on the one in the link has a knurled appearance around the edge of the medalion with a VI, wheras mine does not. Did they all have these or were there different grades.

according to the site it can be with or without laurel leafs.
I don't know if it is a fake, or a private piece.
