Just got this from a forum member and I must say it's a beauty. I suspect a silver frame because of the even almost black patine on it.

I disagree, I think it has very good dark silver patina.....just hard to see in these photos. Silver patine sometimes is hard to capture with the camera.

The frame is heavily patina-ed with a solid black patina which to me makes it a silver frame. Right?

From what I can see this cross still has a nice patina. It does not look cleaned.

And it possibly is silver, as (almost?) all WW1 era crosses are.
