    hi all
just wanted some advice on these as im new to collecting and are looking to start collect them.

    thanks

    Hi Darren,

    Correct, for award criteria search the web;

    ww1 badges maker marked
Some silver have 800 on the needle (private pieces), there is also a variant (I believe for all grades) with a DRGM catch. I'm not aware of real maker marks, and if there are they are not often seen.

    packets or cases
I know black awarded ones came in packets, and probably private pieces would come in cases. I don't know about the awarded silver and gold ones.

Also check the wound badge forum!

    Best regards,
    Michel

      Hi Darren,

known ww1 maker marked wound badges are:
Sedlatzek, KB ,H.T. ,E.S. ,SCHWEYER MÜNCHEN ,KM (KM St.) ,GM ,Meybauer, Godet.

Known maker marks on ww1 wb's from LDO and Präsidialkanzlei at this time are:
      4, 26 ,L/10 ,L/15 ,L/18 ,L/21 (with variants), L/54 (with variants) ,L/56 (with variants). Maker marked miniatures are known from L/53.

Like Michel said ww1 maker marked wound badges are not often to find and some of them are very rare.

DRGM = Deutsches Reich Gebrauchs Muster.

            Hi Darren:

Apologies if you already know this but don't forget in WWI there were also wound badges for the navy (Marine). I did not see this mentioned so I thought I would bring it up.

            Here is a black one.
