I have a totenkopf which has been removed from a horse blanket of an SS cavalry regiment. It is in woven silver bullion with hand-finishing, and is shown below. It is BIG, as the comparison with the collar patch shows.
I have been trying for ages to find a picture of an SS shabraque with skulls intact, or a picture of such a horse blanket in use between 1936 and 1945. No luck so far.
HOWEVER, I'm told that there is a surviving SS horse blanket, with these skulls on it, residing in an advanced IMPERIAL collection somewhere in the US. If so, I'd very much like to see pictures of it.
Anyone any knowledge??
Regards,
Robin.
