When was this ribbon/cross combo worn?

Wondering where and when this combo would have been worn. Civilian clothes? Was this a personal preference?

That type of setup is often associated with female recipients or with formal dress (civilian) attire. I'm not sure if there were any female EK2 recipients, so I would say that civilian attire is a good guess.

That's not what bravery awards are ment to be worn.

So called "lady bows" were not only worn by ladies. With just a hand full of WW1 EKs to ladies, anything else is more likely. Worn - by a man - on civilian clothes is possible. Some believe they did it especially on weddings. It was just a question of style in the end.
