German Machine Gun Plaque??

This is my first time out in any forum so I may not have it quite right yet. I aquired this metal plaque in a grouping of military items. I am thinking that it is some sort of WWI machine gun plaque. Can anyone help with what it is? It seems to have been modified from it's original configuration with the edge on the back side being bent down so it will lay flat. I also had some screw sockets in place one of which has been ripped out. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.
it's hard to know what your plaque originally came off of. It looks like
something you might find on a memorial or possible at a regimental
headquarters. We may never know, but it is a very neat piece with
lots of detail and charactor.

Very nice detail in that one. Look at the pad the soldiers elbow is resting on. The helmet has a couple of emblems. Post your pic on the Imperial uniform forum and maybe someone could identify the outfit by the uniform. Maybe? Gary

Your plaque would make a nice backdrop for any medals you might have.
I also have a old plaque although not as nice as yours.

Judging from the shield on the helmet, I would guess this is from some sort of post WWI decorator. It may have been attached to a marble or wooden base originally. Hard to pinpoint exactly, but I doubt it was anything official.
