    German Veteran's Badge?

Can anyone identify this badge? What is represents, and approximately when it was made. (Pinback and approx. 31mm x 31mm)

    Thanks, Rich

I believe it is a patriotic pin rather than a veteran's badge. These come in all sorts of permutations. Can we see the reverse? I would like to try and establish if it is Austrian or German made. it was probably made 1915/16.

I don't recognize the crest in the obverse center, but it seems to be a city or town shield/emblem.

      Hello,

the pin shows the coat of arms or Wappen of the City of Köln. Although a bit crude. See:

Here's a reverse side image... I have generally considered this a German pin style, but what would the difference be in an Austrian pin?

What kind of value do these have typically?

Thank you both for the responses, Rich

I would pay $20-$30 for it (not that I have any desire for it) depending on how we got along together at a show, for example. Used to get similar items for $10-$15 when I was collecting them a few years ago.

Since you are considering selling it on your website and most of your items are sold I can't really tell what your pricing scale is. The only thing left is the EK2 which is advertised at a fair price, I guess.

You had some neat Imperial items!

Anyways, back to the pin in question: yep, it is German-made and the rivet is a nice touch! That is a neat badge. I like it!

            Eric,
I appreciate your candor, and feedback. Hope I can find something you like down the road. While I am primarily a U.S. Collector, I do get some nice International stuff in on occasion, and find this venue helpful in making sure the items I list are accurately described and the real thing.

            Best Regards, Rich
