    Now is this an "I"?

--I have a pair of 1870 EK1's, both Wagner crosses. One of them has a stamp that was executed unevenly with heavier indentation to the trailing edges , resulting from a badly timed stamping.
The first initial at a glance seems to be an 'I', but the lettering seems to compare more favorably with the style used on the 'J' cross that I own and less so with 'I' marks that I have on reference. Just looking for affirmation regarding my observations - in my opinion, the 'I' is more likely a 'J' that never took.
The '1' in '14' also compares more favorably with 'J's and there is no semi-colon that usually appears after the 'LOTH' in 'I' pieces.
    Any opinions?

      Hi,

it is a "J" for Johann Wagner & Sohn.
Sometimes in the "old german language" they use an "I" for a "J" too.

      Greetings
