    Prinzen EK2 - opinions please

This one caught my eye recently. But I have no direct experience with Prinzens. So I'd welcome your opinions as to its authenticity and current market value. Thanks.

    Best, Alex

I don't know about value, but it looks good to me.

I have one just like it, ribbon and all. Perhaps a maker in Saxony?

Thanks, Don. Yes, yours is identical to the one I'm considering. Can you give me an idea about how much these are going for currently? An estimate would do. Thanks.

        Best,

        Alex

Perhaps a Zimmermann, if I'm not mistaken? Anyhow, good and nice.

Hi Alex, first one you posted is the "4 parts made Blued sheet metal core" that has been attributed to CFZ for some time but never proven. Also been attributed to C F Rothe-Wien in a book, based on the case it came in i think. They are often found with Austrian Trifold ribbon, one of mine got it.

Second one im not sure of yet, never saw that version before so asked Dion for better pics. Seems to be pretty well made though.

Been playing around with some Prinzen on Trifolds, here's the result.

Carl those look great! Too bad the Non-Com ribbons are reproductions.

So your two "Type A" 1870 Prinzens have different frames?
                  Best regards,

Thanks for your feedback, Carl, and very nice grouping with those trifolds! Well done.

Not only the non-coms Trev, made all myself exept for 2nd one from left

Yup, different frames. So far only found 3 each of the 2 different versions, all have the 'Type-A' core. Some are extremly well cast and some are a bit more weak in details. Wonder if the core was cast at the same place as the full size Type-A's.

Alex> The Austrians sure were smart. So easy to put together/dissemble a bar with trifolds.

Hi Gary, it's either 40 or 36mm, will check when i get home next week. It's a 'blacklight negative' silk repro with one edge chain stiched and the other looped like the originals. Got some to spare if you want.
