        The maker is L. Bertsch

        Ludwig Bertsch, Hofjuwelier, Karlsruhe

The Bundesarchiv lists Bertsch as a maker for Woundbadges.

          Hi gregM,

Such items were often given to officers upon their departure from a unit. I think that if you look closely, that you may find that the engraved border contains the names of the other serving officers. Another example -

              Hello tystgaard,

              Yes, they are very similar.

The one I showed, which is not mine, was awarded to Premir Lt. Freiherrn Henn von Henneberg from the Officer Corps of the 2nd Leib Hussar regt. for service from 14/3/1883 to 17/4/1897. In 1914, he was, as a Major, commanding officer of Hussar regt. nr. 4.

              Regards,

The Monogramm is "LDR" for Leib-Dragoner-Regiment, that was 1. Badisches Nr. 20, Karlsruhe.

If it is yours, might there be a chance for it to return home?

                  .

Thanks for the info... a great help. Yes it is from my own collection...Well have not thought about selling it. Its a fantastic tray with alot of history. But well... for the right price I guess I will consider, but it need to be a serious and tempting offer.

                  Thanks from

I really like silver items from Imperial times.

Especially if there is a skull on it!

That item was in the mail today!
