    Hi,

    I have a 1914 EK1 engraved;

    hptm.
= Müllenbach. = (alternately possibly Mülleirbach)
    6./60

Would anybody have any info for this officer?

    Regards
    Mike K

    Not FAR 60

    Hi,

There doesn't seem to be anyone with a name like that listed in the 1914-1918 regimental history of Feldartillerie-Regiment Nr. 60.

He may have been a member of Infanterie-Regiment Markgraf Karl (7. Brandenburgisches) Nr. 60.

      Hi Mike,

the only officers with the name Müllenbach listed in the 1914 Prussian Rangliste were Leutnants der Reserve:

Otto and Eduard Müllenabach both of the Infanterie Leib-Regiment Großherzogin (3. Großherzogl. hess.) Nr. 117. One of the these two was KIA on 7 Oct 1914.

and Leutnant der Reserve Müllenbach of 2. Westfälisches Feldartillerie-Regiment Nr. 22

An Oberleutnant der Landwehr Alfred Müllenbach is listed in the Bavarian 1914 Militär-Handbuch, he was an artillery officer.

      Regards
      Glenn

        Hi Glenn & David,

Many thanks for your info so far. I think looking at the inscription in detail the alternate possibility (Mülleirbach) may be more likely (is this a common German surname though?) as their appears to be a dot over the first part of the "n" and maybe a break after the first stroke of the "n", such that "ir" is a distinct possibility.

The cross itself may shed some light - it appears to be a later war example, vaulted, silver-plated tombak and well worn. My guess is the owner may have survived the war. Sorry if I've had you guys looking in the wrong spot and your help is very much appreciated.

I'll try for some images of the cross later fyi.

        Regards
        Mike K

PS: The cross is not for sale, nor will it be in the foreseeable future (ie I don't want the info for some sort of sales pitch!)
        Regards
        Mike

          Dear Mike,

Mülleirbach sounds very weird. I doubt this German last name exists, it makes no sense. Müllenbach or Müllerbach would make sense.
          Cheers, Frank

... and the best I can do with the engraving. Maybe someone has a different interpretation of the name?

                  Dear Mike,

For me it is Müllenbach. That i-dot is just a random blow to the badge.
                  Cheers, Frank
