I was surfing some Adel sites and came across the term "Kunkel-Adel". Apparently that is when the daughter of a noble family marries an untitled man. I'm wondering, if the woman keeps her own family name, von So and So, for example, does she keep her Adel to pass on to her children, or does she lose it? Also if she hyphenates her family name with her new husbands' name, von So and So-Meier, for example can she keep her Adel that way? Not really a "medal and awards" question, but still interesting since pre 1918 Germans and Austrians could be elevated into the Nobility when they received high honours for services rendered to the state in peace and war.
Does anyone have any ideas? Cheers, Chris B.
