    Blue Core "Silber"

Here's one that has eluded me for many years and finally!

One of 4 pin variations of the type 2 core. This being the large Silber mark.

    Happy Monday.

That's a great one. I have a Silber marked blued core, but the mark is not on the pin, but the frame. Thanks for letting me know there is yet another variant out there I have to look for. It never ends!

              Blued Core

              Chris,
I'm now convinced that your addction to the blued core crosses is much much more. I'm now convinced that you are time traveling back to get these things right out of the makers hand. Good job, this is a real beauty that has alluded me too.

Now that's a very attractive EK1 indeed! Well done, Chris.

I take it that "SILBER" marked EK1s are rare. Do you know the maker by chance?

                Best,

                Alex

Steve, the bad news is.. between this type2 and the pumpkin crown type 1 core, there appear to be over 30 variations. Pin/screwback styles & stamps mainly. Oh the pain.

Russel, I think you mean compulsive obsession

Alex, I haven't seen any other variation of EKs with the "Silber" stamp only these two core types for some reason.

Stamped on the pin are very hard to find, this is only the second or third I've seen in 5 yrs since I've been collecting these. There's another type with a small Silber stamp, different pin & I've only seen 1 of those in the collection of.....You guessed it, Motorhead
The other one is marked with a * on the pin. seen 1 of those only.

The most available of the group have the stamp on the back plate. I've seen 5-6 of these posted, Steve's being the latest.

The maker of these early models.. still unknown, but we know the later pieces marked L/52 were sold/made/put together by CFZ
Whether or not CFZ had a hand in the 20-30s unmarked pieces is anyone's guess?

Here's an unusual variation on the screwback theme. Never seen one of these complete. Unfortunately the attachment on this one is a replacement from some time but in the fashion of an original.

Love the detail of the crown on these. Notice the pebbling between the arms, detail, detail.

I found this photo in my files, not sure where I got it but, I have it attributed to "David Gregory" so I hope he doesn't mind me using it for this thread, these are very rarely seen so I figured this would be a good place to add it.

Here's a MFF cross with the same "spade" type fixture complete with an original DRGM attachment disk.
