Latest arrival - EK2 mm??

Help with EK2 maker mark please

Has anyone ever seen such a maker mark on a 1914 EK2? I'm afraid I can't get a closer and clearer shot with my old point and shoot camera. So I hope the one I posted earlier will suffice. Your opinions on the EK itself would also be welcomed. Thanks.

Are you sre that's a makers mark? Could be a "damage" mark. It looks to me like there is a number 2 by the red arrow, or am I seeing things? Gary

I certainly is a beautiful cross, but I don't personally recognize the mark. Of course this core was used by many makers, foremost among them R and Z, but also S-W and WILM and others.

I'm pretty sure it's a maker mark, Gary. It looks like a set of symbols to me. The spot you indicated with the arrow is just a nick in the metal.

Here's another shot of the ring with some additional lighting and from another angle. If anyone out there has ever seen these symbols before I'd sure like to know. Thanks.

Thanks for your opinion, Trevor. I agree it's very attractive cross with a nice patina. I just hope someone may eventually recognize the maker mark.

It kind of looks like a number 5 laying on its side. Also, it looks sort of like LW with only the very bottom of the letters getting stamped. Stamped or stumped? Gary

I think you may be right, Gary. Thanks for the tip. It may well be an 'LW' as shown by Carl in this thread:

Except that in the case of my EK2, the 'L' is significantly more elongated than the maker mark on Carl's cross. Your thoughts?

Hi Alex, agree with Gary, a nice LW. The bottom part of the L is actually quite long on all the LW's i saw. Here's another half LW, saw a full LW stamp once but stupidly enough did not save it for reference. Had mine for a long time before finding a mark that matched, now always looking for them due to some have blackened or browned core instead of painted, very pretty.
