Todays lucky find at the Haiger show - Non-combatant EKII medal-bar

A very nice example I got today at the show in Haiger (Germany). The Kreuz für Kriegshilfsdienst is also maker marked "F" (Friedländer, Berlin ?).

Back. Thats also the most slope and improper made EKII I've ever seen. Look at the "1813"!!!

THAT is how to collect "white-black" EKs!

Is the frame on the EK silver? I had an equally lumpy "white-black" on a bar: the cross's iron part looked like this one, but the frame was about half as thick as normal and appeared to be made out of TIN rather than silver. The outside arm edges were so thin and sahrp they were like razor blades!

hard to believe the EK2 could have been "out of stock," but with 10,000 of the 13,000 "white-blacks" awarded 1919-24, I wonder if such REALLY substandard ones were actually MADE after the war.

Rick, I think the frame is silver but it is also very thin. The complete cross is very thin with sharp edges and it has no makers mark. I've never seen such an EK and I've seen a LOT of them
