U Boat Badge

Nice one. I have one just like it on the front and back (Hallmarked, etc.). However, my badge has some green stuff on it that I have not cleaned. These are wartime or post?

One way to possibly establish if it is wartime or postwar might be to have Rick L. look up the recipient's name and RANK progression in his records. Perhaps if you ask very nicely he might be glad to help!

This is mine which has previously been discussed, there seem to be some distinct differences overall.


I don't recall what period mine is from post war or first inception in 1918 (is that right ?)

I will post more clear pic's in the morning but here's a 'sample' view. The 'yellow' tinge is due to these being taken under a lamp.
