That is why I like Imperial over TR.
The quality and craftsmanship in those two examples is far and above
anything you find in Third Reich pieces.

Oooh, nice ones Marc. Can you post more shots of your EK1? I just picked up a vaulted example, named to a Hanoverian general.

Sure Vince - I'll try to shoot it tomorrow. But the case is stashed away as she is so very delicate. Paper hinge you know. After all these years it is VERY VERY fragile...

              Its very interessting:

The Iron Cross 1870 costs dealerprice from 2010: 3.600 US $ (2.600 Euro)
              http://www.emedals.ca/catalog.asp?item=GST784#bigPic

The same piece was offered bei Thies Auction 2006 Nr. 549: 5100 US $ (3.800 Euro)

This cross you get 4 years later 1.500 $ cheaper.
I think this cross from emdeals is burned out!

Interesting. I would expect to pay over $5100 for an award-type cross, so perhaps this was mistaken for that when it was originally sold, and the sellers since have had to modify their expectations.
                Best regards,
