    EK2 mm "Fr"?

This one came with a very nice award document dated 1917 for service at Verdun. But I wasn't sure about the mm. Then I saw Ammersee's recent thread and now I'm inclined to believe my cross is indeed an "Fr". Nevertheless I'd still welcome your expert opinions. Thanks.

    Best, Alex

Another Fr. out of the woodwork. Good catch. Mine is well made and I really like it. Now I want one with the other "FR" marking. Gary

An FR can be a little harder to find than Fr

Trevor mentioned on another thread that it isn't known for sure if Fr. is Friedländer and FR is Friedrich Rothe or... ??

I have a list of EK maker marks and makers names I got off the internet and it lists FR as Frank & Rief. I have no idea if this is accurate but just thought I'd mention it...and cofuse things even more! Gary

Hey, that's pretty interesting. Is everything else on that list accurate as far as you can tell?

You know, one way we may be able to determine if both Fr. and FR are Friedänder, is to compare crosses with those marks and see if they are otherwise similar or identical. I think they are not -- suggesting Fr. and FR may be two different makers.

                Just a thought.
                Best regards,

The list, helpful as it is, is in need of an update. I believe many of these are the result of bad stamps, or double stamping.

BD800 is a perfect example, I mistakenly believed the one I had to be from this maker until I finally looked at the core and realized that it was a CD800. The 800 had been double stamped and made the CD look like BD
