    New Ek1 marked 800 and ??

    Hi All,

my recent addition. This was on my wish list, after my cast fake disaster see:
    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=362175

Its vaulted and marked 800 on the pin. There seems to be another mark underneath the pin, has anyone seen this before? It doesnot look like wear.

    Best regards,
    Michel

The extra mark looks like the same kind of marking location i've seen the 'shooting A' mark, probably some kind of quality control mark maybe?

This looks like the "CCC" mark for Canterbury Clothing, hence it was probably made in New Zealand recently

PS: yes, OK, I agree, another variation of a possible QC marking.

What a cross! What great photos. Reminds me of why I love the 1914 EK1s. Thanks for showing it.

Great cross with the Slanted W core, my personal favorite. Read somewhere that those kind of (((( marks are from lifting material when testing the silver content but not sure if that ever has been proved.

Looks like tool marks to me (sorry) left over from someone that was
a bit too agressive with a pliers or vice.

              Hi Greg,

No need to say sorry. It is a possibility, when i first saw it I thought it could be wear against the hinge block. When I macro'd the spot, the ((( showed up. Anyway it is at the place where usually marks are found. The two grooves parallel to the needle above it look like production/tool marks.

I still think it is a mark "on purpose". But until it is proven it stays in the category "Maybe".

              Best regards,
              Michel

Thanks! Next time it (maybe) will be a D.O.F.

Here's a similar mark found on an EK2.
