An Officer or NCO from this medal setup ?

    Hello all,

Do you believe he was an Officer in the first world war from this setup?

    Saschen Albrecht's Order
    Lippe "Bravery"/Serv. Oder
    Prussian Order of Crown- Serv.
    Saschen-Gotha Civil Order
    DR- China Service Non-combattants
    Kaiser Wilhelm Commemorative Medal
Austrian Meritorious Service Cross w/War Service Wreath

Please let me know either way. Thank you.

Dear William, what do you mean with

Austrian Meritorious Service Cross w/War Service Wreath ?

A Military Merit Cross witg Kriegsdekoration - with the words VERDIENST in the center medaillon - than you have got an officers bar - they were ONLY issued to officers.

    regards

I would have to see a pic to confirm but I would say officer as there is no 25 yr. LSC and there is a 1897 centennial. An EM would have had at the an EM LSC.

The second award (1870/1) is not part of that bar imo. The Bavarian should be a BMVO4mS, The second award was probably a Hohenzollern House Order as the ribbon looks to be combattant ribon (black/white). I'm thinking Paul C might be able to put a name to it. WW1 Capt/Major (perhaps a pilot) called back to service in WW2 as an Oberst, possibly made General but served at home due to age. Should have an EK1 from WW1 too imo. That's an educated guess. Let's see what others have to say.

                wow!!!

                whew!!
                Now THATs' a bar!!
Having perused a few navy and army ranklists I know a guy in Massachusetts who could confirm what I THINK (but am not 100% certain) is the identity of this guy.

I do not do anyone any fovours for free any more though.

Maybe DonD. can get Rick Research to confirm his identity, but I personally would pay him at least $25 to tell you what you want to know. Believe me, if I am right, this is a good investment.
Or you can post it at GMIC. Daniel, Paul C. and Glenn sometimes ID bars .

I do not have this bar.......yet. I would truly appreciate anyone who could ID this guy. Restored this thing would be just lovely with a big fat blue enamel Bavarian cross!

Incredible bar, and a very unusual combination of awards.

I spoke to my cousin via phone last week. interent is down but he can still be intrigues by a photograph. I'll print it off and mail it to him.
But, I'll advise him him not to confirm it for free. I'd like to see if my guestimate is correct.
He has the motherload of Wurtemburg awards now.

Did he ever find out who this bar might have belonged to?
