No, this is not what Übergrosse refers to when talking about EKs. Übergrosse refers specifically to oversized (almost RK sized) 1939 EK2s.
I think you've done alright with this one nevertheless! The hinge pin catch construction is typical of 30s awards like SA Sports Badges. I've seen the same construction on Spanish Crosses, Spanish pattern Wound Badges and 1939 EK1s (maybe one or two other awards as well). Some people believe they are reproductions but I like them and think they are probably period pieces.
Is yours one-piece? It sort of looks it and I seem to recall a 1939 EK1 with this attachment hardware also being one-piece.

I have a KVK 1 with Swords with the same hinge, pin, and catch. I've heard them attributed to Petz & Lorenz U. Reichenbach WTTBG.
