Royal prussian Houseorder of Hohenzollern

Since prussian orders enjoy here always large popularity, I would like to show you my comture star with swords from the royal prussian houseorder of Hohenzollern.


Avers, with some damages in enamel. The two lower swordparts are lost.


Revers, silver and gold, needel silver gilded, 67 gr., 77,5 x 68 mm

The star is compound from three segments. The rear of the cross is continuous white enamelled.

Hinge of the needle

Opened hinge of the needle with a mark.

Due to the few awards it is one of the rarest medals of Prussia.

Wagner manufactured this order from 1883 to 1918. Since the cross and the swords were manufactured in gold, production is to be excluded after 1916.

Does someone have photos of recipients with this comture star?

Does someone have rear views of dated, prussian order stars, manufactured from Wagner, whom it can show here?

If you specifies the period of the manufacturing by Johann Wagner from 1883 to 1918, you can exclude an award for the war 1870/71. Thus only a award for the I. WW remains. Because the cross is manufactured in gold, an award is excluded after 1916.
According to Nimmergut's Ordenshandbuch, only four recipients are therefore applicable:
1. Generaloberst von Einem
2. General der Infantrie Otto von Below
3. Chef des Gereralstabes von Falkenhayn
4. General von Schenk (Star only)
But I dont know, if actually awarded one of these persons with this Star, that I have posted.

This doesn't appear to be the same grade as your because it is just the cross, there's no metal star behind it. It's very small, but I'm going to post a close-up of it too.

I only know post awards of the Princely House Order of Hohenzollern, but not of the Royal House Order of Hohenzollern.

I******180;ve got a Hohenzollern Houseorder breaststar from Otto v. Below in my own Hands, but it was made in a very poor quality. It must be a Star from 1918 or so. It is a Piece of the collection in the German Historical Museum in Berlin. The Star is in the Museum since 1920.

Sorry, I couldn't see it well enough to tell. I had another photo of someone that I started to post, but on that one I could clearly see that it was the princely house order, not the royal one.
