Ek2 prices ??????? a "rant"

theres still bargins out there 15 WW1 EK2s arrived yesterday from Germany

But the general ebay hype is nuts, still bargins on there i had 2 this last month at £22 but most seem to go £40 upwards many going past £50

and I can buy them from my local dealer at £35 still, if there more than £35 i'll pass as theres plenty out there to rehome

Must be nice to have a local dealer Here in Ohio, the shows they have are chalked full of fakes fakes fakes...it's very sad. Anyhow, at least you have a trust worthy source!

yes its handy and what got me collecting but its only what comes in over the counter so it can be quiet or busy busy busy! if your there first that is! missed some amazin items

I understand that some crosses are more desireable than others and someone will
pay extra for that one maker or variant they need to fill out their collection. I am just
as guilty of that as the next guy. But spending over a $100 (Today--not 2014) on a
common cross is beyond what my tiny brain can comprehend. For that matter-- I
have yet to spend more than $70 on a '14 2nd class but like i said, I'm a cheap bastard.

Even though there are many common crosses out there , some 1914 EK2 makers/variants are quiet difficult to find . I dont mind paying an extra $20 or so to fill a space , as I might wait several years before I see the same cross again.

Also , I think its worth paying a little extra for an example with an original full length award ribbon ... they are getting harder to find too .

I concur Simon. Paying a little extra for that desirable maker you've been hunting for, or for that special core variation you've wanted for awhile, is understandable. What's more, for me, condition is everything and I tend to only go after EKs with flawless or nearly flawless cores. I've paid up to $100 for an EK2 in the right condition. But that's pretty much my cut-off amount for EK2s.
